Global Food System Resilience: Navigating Uncertainty and Systemic Change
Food systems are facing unprecedented challenges. Climate change, geopolitical instability, market volatility, biodiversity loss, resource constraints, and rapid technological change are creating new uncertainties while exposing existing vulnerabilities. Recent crises have highlighted how deeply interconnected—and at times fragile—our food systems can be.
Building resilient food systems requires balancing productivity with sustainability, efficiency with robustness, and local needs with global interdependencies. Agricultural economists have a vital role to play by examining the decisions, incentives, institutions, and policies that shape food systems and by providing evidence for effective responses to uncertainty and systemic change.
The XIX EAAE Congress, “Global Food System Resilience: Navigating Uncertainty and Systemic Change,” brings together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to explore how food systems can withstand shocks, adapt to change, and remain sustainable and inclusive. The Congress provides a platform for sharing new evidence, advancing methodological approaches, and fostering dialogue on the future of food and agriculture.
